Traditional West African tie-on waistbeads intended for long term wear.
These gorgeous pink blush beads are named in honor of Ida B. Wells. She was a highly skilled and prominent journalist and activist who is known for bringing attention to the issue of lynching African Americans. Once she started writing for Black newspapers she was able to bring nationwide attention to the issue leading to investigations of its nature and cause. Her life was threatened many times by white lynch mobs as a result. Fleeing, she continued her work overseas and founded the British Anti-Lynching Society. Ida B. Wells is a fearless icon that we honor today.
